Retired Fire Chief George Dunkel regularly assists special districts and fire organizations with CEO/Chief recruitment and hiring.
Chief Dunkel began his fire service career as a volunteer firefighter with Scappoose Rural Fire District, and was later hired as a career firefighter by Washington County Fire District #1 (now Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue). As Fire Chief of St. Helens Fire District Chief Dunkel managed the merger of the Rainier Fire District and St. Helens Fire District forming Columbia River Fire & Rescue.
Chief Dunkel’s genuine enthusiasm for the fire service is evident in his high level of professional involvement. He is a recent past Board Member and past Chair of the International Fire Service Training Association Executive Board and past member and chair of the Special Districts Association of Oregon Board of Directors.
